Is this something you're trying to do through the dashboard? Do you have screenshot of where in the dashboard you're seeing this error?
I'm adding to the balance in the dashboard as shown here:
Gotcha - so this is considered a "top up", and being on a manual payout schedule is a requirement for being able to create a top up (see https://stripe.com/docs/connect/top-ups#requirements)
You can change this setting in your dashboard at https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payouts
- Is there another step when we have our payout setting set to "manual"? or once we do the transfer to the Stripe Connected account, is it already processed and going to the account holder's bank account?
Setting the your payout settings to manual will just affect the payouts on your platform account to it's bank account.
Once you've added funds to your platform account through a top up, you will then have to transfer the funds to the connected account, and depending on the connected accounts' payout settings that would influence when the funds are paid out to their bank account
Since we are setting up our customers with custome Connected Accounts, we would be setting this. Can we set it to auto pay daily during the custom account creation process?
Yes, I believe you should be able to set this during creation at settings.payout.schedule (see https://stripe.com/docs/api/accounts/create#create_account-settings-payouts-schedule)

Another question: Next to the "manual" setting in the dashboard it says "You'll no longer be able to see which transactions are bundled in a payout" What does that mean?
... I guess it is self explanatory. Never mind.
