@violet minnow hi! so the way it works is iDEAL itself can't be used for subscriptions, since every payment is a redirect to the bank's page to authenticate.
What is possible though is you do one payment using iDEAL, and then after that payment you can get the IBAN of the customer's bank account, and charge that directly via SEPA on a recurring basis (note that the recurring payments are via SEPA so they use the refund/dispute/fee structure for the SEPA method and not iDEAL)

I'd have to test this to confirm my knowledge, but if you do iDEAL in Checkout mode=subscription I think it sets up that flow, but maybe it doesn't, haven't looked at this recently

Ok, I'll test just this out then when I get some time. I think it seems quite unclear in the documentation at the moment.
I think the same is true for Sofort as well.

yeah, SOFORT works the same way, it's a common flow with a few European methods

ah ok yeah, it doesn't work that way unfortunately, you can't use ideal in mode=subscription .
