Okay, looking into the underlying object, there does not appear to be an upper limit. That being said I would advise writing some tests that validates this well above what you expect to occur.
As our docs state, this group should represent a single business action.

Thank you very much - I'll test any upper limit to the number of accounts in a group, and if there are any issues, it makes business sense to try to divide large transactions into multiple business actions anyway.

I agree. I think if you started running into upper limits you would have to consider whether all the transactions truly represent a single action
