A subscription upgrade or downgrade would create a proration. This kind of behavior is configurable, and I'd recommend you take a look at our docs on this first: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/prorations. It should walk you through the different possibilities. If you have further questions, we can answer those here

I see. if your question is just when should you downgrade the customer to the basic plan, then that's ultimately up to you
