i did check this out, i applied credit to my account and then went to make a payment as that customer, the money was still taken from my card - which led me to beleive i had misunderstood this featuer
Ah, were you creating Payment Intents with this? Customer Credit Balance is meant to be used specifically for Billing (Invoices + subscriptions)
yes they are Payment Intents
Yeah, that would be why it wasn't working. You'd need to use Invoices if you want to use the Customer credit balance
