You have it basically right. If you want to charge the user while they are not around later, you will want to use off_session, if they will always be present, select on_session

What main difference is there for the user then?

Any additional checkbox to have or ... I don't know a different behaviour at some point?

I am unsure if the Checkbox is required but otherwise there isn't really a difference to the user there

Just whether you need them present to make future charges
