@lofty socket it's not possible to do that with Terminal, the card details are accepted within the reader itself and you don't get to see the details of them until after the payment has been processed on the reader

so you can't do that flow. What I'd suggest is not calculating the application fee like that, you should change your business approach to just take a fee that covers your overall cost of doing business instead of adjusting it per card since it's not feasible in our integrations to get that information.

Overall our integrations are designed that way (client side confirmation), that synchronous integration you mention has various drawbacks and doesn't work with a lot of the newer frontend we launch(including Terminal or the new PaymentElement component) or for any payment method that is not cards, it's only for older platforms migrating over essentially.

Hi. @noble pawn thank you for your fast response. Basically we just want this to be applied to card and card present. For other payment such as alipay we calculate based on the source and do the charge.
