Thanks, looking at the documentation seems to suggest that the client would need to confirm the creation of the payment intent - is that not always the case?

The workflow we're looking for is - 1. create payment method on the client and store offline. 2. run some server side verifications 3. use stored payment method to create the payment intent on the server side

That doc is just showing the general flow of how to use apple pay - most often users are using it to confirm a Payment Intent, but you can also use it with Setup intents
