Hi! Awesome! Thanks!!
Hello! For Terminal, the locations should represent a physical location where the readers are used, such as a particular shop. You can read more here: https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/fleet/locations#create-location
Hi there! Gotcha! But let's assume that the location was huge - like a massive space - if I pick dead in the center, how much will it cover, can I state the location as the size of a typical mall for example?
As far as sharing a couple of Internet-connected Terminal readers with multiple devices, this isn't generally recommended, but is technically possible. When you discover smart readers it shows you all the readers at the specified location and allows you to connect to any of them using your Terminal app.
The location can be a big space like a mall or warehouse or something like that, that's fine.
As a general rule of thumb if it has a mailing address you should be able to use it as a Terminal location.
Awesome! So that's perfect in terms of the reader location
And with the terminal connection stuff - and we do have a discovery listener setup to show all the terminals - is there somehow I can avoid the user's picking step and use distance as a way to determine which tablet should pair to what reader?
Sorry for the non-conventional scenarios - it would just work better for us if there was a way to do this
No, there's no way to connect based on distance with a single location with smart readers.
You would need to do something like partition your space into arbitrary zones and assign each one a location to do something like that, then make sure readers stayed in their assigned zones.
Got it! But that means the mailing address' would have to be different right?
Smart readers need two things: an Internet connection and a local network connection to the device running your Terminal integration code. As long as they have that the distance doesn't matter.
Oh really! Okay cool! That's perfect!!
No problem! ๐
