Good question. Have you tested this and checked? I can look in to this but am curious what you are seeing now
No I haven't tried this yet. Was just wondering.
Hm it looks like if you try to create a tax rate for a connected account, it creates it on the platform account instead.
And then when I try to create the subscription using the tax id, it says it cannot find it.
Can you send me the request ID req_123 from when it said it could not find the tax ID?
You have to create it and use it on the same account, but either account should be able to create and use it
req_KAK53NJiYktwSL
Error: No such tax rate: 'txr_1KCT1tEjjzzxn7W4nT03zApc'
oh wait that one was archived
it looks like it just now worked with a new tax rate
Oh good to hear, and yeah that one looks like it was created on the dashboard of the connected account. https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/logs/req_ZeueaZtcXRZIbB
I'm curious and have not gotten to testing this. When you create it with this working tax rate, how does it affect the fee?
So - it did affect the fee. It passed through 10% (the application fee percent) of the tax to the application fee.
Ah that makes sense. Thanks for the update. Does that answer your questions on that behavior or is there something else we can look in to ?
Well I will have to consult with a tax expert on this. I was hoping that the taxes would all pass through to the connected account.
But maybe the platform is required to collect and remit the same taxes as the connected account.
Thanks so much for the help. Happy new year!
Of course, happy new year to you too!
