Now that you've got the new credit card you should use it to pay for the latest unpaid invoice on the subscription. Once that invoice has been paid, the Subscription should naturally go back to active

Yup! And also make sure the new credit card is saved as the default either on the customer (as invoice_settings[default_payment_method]) or the subscription (as default_payment_method)
