I would look at the settings on https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/billing/automatic and see if they let you do what you're looking for.

i checked but looks like this does not enable me add a grace period to subscriptions

when i payment fails, the subscription is moved to status past_due

#

is it possible to add say 10 days to this (like a grace period), so the subscription does not immediately move to past_due

or is this something i would need to handle on my applications end

you could use this I suppose , but it's not exactly the same as a grace period.
