Hi there 👋 yes you can use transfers to send funds from your platform to your connected accounts. These funds will then be paid out when the next payout occurs, after the funds have settled and are available for payout.
The process is actually the same as the one outlined in the guide you linked.
OK, but then why is the latter process reserved to the US?
Can you help me understand where you're seeing that?
On the linked page I have posted, there is a warning message at the beginning: "This feature is only available for U.S. accounts."
Are you referring to cross-birder payouts? https://stripe.com/docs/connect/cross-border-payouts
Can you screenshot the docs page to show what you're seeing?
Gotcha, thanks
@idle flax to clarify, are you generally collecting payments via Stripe, or separate from Stripe and only looking to use Stripe for these payout?
The feature restriction here is specifically related to funding your account via "top ups" before paying out
So you might just need to look at this instead: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/charges-transfers
If you already have balance in your account related to payments
(Message edited multiple times for better clarity, hopefully)
I will be collecting payments via Stripe and use a part of the collected money to transfer it to some users. Creating separate charges and transfers is what I am doing already and whenever I know that a part of the charged money needs to be redistributed to some users, I set a unique transfer group identifier to "tie" the charge with the transfer(s).
However, there is an occurrence where I will need to transfer money to users without being able to tie it to any previous payments. So far, I figured I simply need to make a transfer without setting a transfer group but then I discovered the linked page above and got confused.
In a nutshell, my question is: does the money used in transfers has to come from previous charges?
only in so far as that's how you get funds into your stripe account balance
it's OK for the transfer to not be related to a specific payment
The US-only restriction you saw related specifically to funding your account via "top ups" before paying out -- if you have a balance from other payments thn sending transfers to accounts is perfectly fine
Ok, that's what I thought. And if I need to manually fund my Stripe account by a bank transfer to cover those "single" transfers, that is still fine, right?
Top-ups are simply a mean of automating the funding of the account, aren't they?
You can top up for the purposes of covering a negative balance due to refunds/disputes etc, but not for paying out (outside the US)
But you should reach out to our support team to ask about this and when it might be available to you in France:
