Yeah, you can't take on additional one-off items using the Customer Portal. You'd have to charge them for this in your checkout flow

ok, I was afraid of that. I'm new to working with Stripe, is "checkout flow" a thing I can integrate with the customer portal or no?

No, the customer portal is primarily for managing things AFTER they've already paid for a subscription

ok, thanks for that. Just to clarify, the portal can manage subscriptions, but it can be used to initiate them right?
