hello, what is the end goal that you're looking for? having your customer select a diff payment method for their sub?

The Customer Portal is supposed to be a complete self-service center for a customer, but the payment update feature there only allows credit cards. Checkout supports a lot more payment options.

The goal is that we don't want our own Subscription Management page, but we can't at the moment, we need to have a base page that has the user choose between updating payment info (which sends them to Checkout in setup mode), or changing subscription (upgrade/downgrade) and viewing invoicces.... which sends them to Customer Portal.

basically, CustomerPortal is newer and doesn't support all payment methods, only cards for now as all payment methods have very specific requirements on how they are collected and confirmed

Checkout is the go-to integration surface where you collect all applicable PaymentMethods (in setup mode).

CustomerPortal is being updated to include more features though that said, not sure if adding additional payment methods is on the roadmap there

Yea, even if it was just the option when making the Portal, that instead of having a section there to update, it would link to a Checkout Session for the user to click.
