Right, and in both cases of payment failures (or additional info requirement from bank.. maybe this qualifies as a failure?) I would have to deal with it asynchronously by acting on the webhook events, am I right?

Yes, though if you were using a subscription managed by Stripe, you could choose to let Stripe also handle the payment recovery flows
