Looking in to this. I see ACH payments can take up to 5 business days and I think that is still true with Plaid. I think "Charge immediately" in the doc just means that you can make the charge right away not that the success or failure will be immediate https://stripe.com/docs/ach#ach-payments-workflow

Stripe supports accepting ACH payments—directly from bank accounts—alongside credit cards. We currently only support ACH for Stripe businesses based in the US.

So that is correct: plaid speeds up confirming the account details but the actual charges are not sped up
