hey there, can you clarify what you're asking? Stripe fees are not refunded when refunds are made (full or partial), so the amount deducted for that wouldn't change.

Yes, I understand that. I think I just answered my own question. The fee is accessed when the charge is created. So if I refund the charge ... even if I do multiple refunds for the same charge ... that fee is gone. We may have some big ticket items... and are not going to eat the cost .... so trying to put forward the best methodology on how to recoup the cost from the customer in the case of a refund. For example a restocking fee ....
So .. what we may have to do is to calculate that actual refund to not be the amount of the charge ... but rather a amount minus restocking fee
so we are not on the hook for a $75 credit card fee we have already paid

Yes, that would be up to you to have a policy of refunding less a fee. You should make sure to get legal advice about this and document this clearly for customers.
