No, you can use Let's Encrypt and it will work just fine. 🙂

It depends on what you're paying for beyond the certificate itself, but generally no, that's not how it works.

ok but using a payment gateway like stripe, would that take liability away from me if something were to happen where my customers info was stolen?

Only if you pay for such a thing explicitly. It has nothing to do with the TLS certificate itself.

It sounds like you're talking about some kind of liability protection or insurance, which would be separate from the certificate itself.
