or, how did you generate the link?

normally it's from next_action, right?

Normally you would need to bring back your customer to online and use handleCardAction

also for what it's worth I don't think we cancel a PaymentIntent if attempts to pay it fail — it's intended to work the way you describe, you can re-attempt payment of the same PaymentIntent as many times as the customer wants until it succeeds.
