@deft loom I think it should be an option, but it's probably localised to a local term which might be the confusion. What do you see exactly and do you have an acct_xxx Express account where you are seeing this?
@ornate spade Thank you for helping me. The options that are displayed to the user are (translated to English): sole proprietorship, company, non-profit
This behaviour is the same for all Express accounts, so I'm not sure if sharing an express account id helps
yeah I assume 'sole proprietorship' is individual
But a sole proprietorship must be registered. I.e. it is a legal entity
So that's the issue
a fast way to check would be to pick that and finish the onboarding and then check what busines_type on the Account object is
can I see the business_type on the Stripe dashboard?
it's easiest to see in the API but I think you can yes.
on the console it says n.v.t
what's the account ID you're looking at?
acct_1JpT5dRBAZHdt3vR
oh n.v.t. refers to the non existence of a business url I think
Were you able to see on your end what the business_type is?
oh actually I forgot you can't see buisiness_type on Express since it counts as PII
ahhh
but yes this is busness_type:individual
ahhh....
So even when someone creates an account using that option, Express still asks for a company url?
Is that expected behavior?
Because it is really confuing for our cusotmers
yes it's common feedback
you don't actually need a URL
a product description works(the UI in the onboarding is a bit confusing but you can enter one instead of a URL), and I think you can prefill it as the platform
ah so I could just prefil the url of our website and then it should skip that step?
The information url and hte product description both appear to be listed as optional in the API docs. Is there any way to just not show that step on Express?
yeah if you set that field when creating the account then the user doesn't have to enter the information
they're "optional" at an API level but they are required as part of the KYC to activate the account, so something has to be provided, either a description or a URL, for business reasons , but you can pass that information when creating the account if you don't want the user to have to provide it
gotcha
Ok I will provide that then
Is there a way for me to request a change of the dutch translation for the word individual?
you can write to https://support.stripe.com/email . Curious what you'd change it to, but yeah, I have heard this feedback a few times before about how we localise the legal terms
ok thanks. Yeah I will send an email. The current translation of individual actually means sole proprietorship, which is not an individual
