i only got customer.subscription.deleted when i tried it

Nice... I had a suspicion that it might trigger the other event because it says it will be triggered when the subscription goes to trialing -> active

Is there any place I can refer the causes for customer.subscription.updated to trigger?

i don't think we have a list. I would suggest just checking in your Dashboard to see if the event is generated for the specific action you're taking
