@rain jolt sorry I archived as you didn't follow up. But this behaviour is entirely expected. The coupon applies to the entire invoice

you want to change your coupon to properly apply the discount percentage you really want

Yeah but percentage discount doesn't work either. Because the percentages are different depending on the billing term.

It feels like the only workaround for us is to separate out the annual plans from the monthly plans.

Such that we can have different coupon codes for different products.
A 50% off for 2 months for the monthly biller.
and a 8.3% off the first year for the annual biller.

In such a scenario. Can you have the same Customer Facing Coupon Code attached to 2 different coupons? So we can have the same code like "50OFF2MONTHS" on both the 50% off 2 coupon and also the 8.3% off first year.

Correct, you need different coupon plans or different "amount off" because you want to discount differently
And no it's impossible to have the same customer facing code for 2 different coupons
