Can you expand on what you mean by pre-auth here?

Are you trying to get an authorization for payment but defer capturing until later

What exactly are you doing in the front end?

If you're confirming a payment for a hold eg like in https://stripe.com/docs/payments/capture-later then like it mentioned you'd get payment_intent.amount_capturable_updated if subscribed

Place a hold on a card

Separate authorization and capture to create a charge now, but capture funds later.
