hello @strange peak! off-session=true is used to indicate that the customer is not in your checkout flow during this payment attempt, and therefore is unable to authenticate.

can you share some context on why you're looking to understand one_off/recurring? this isn't a documented input value

yeah thats what i was surprised to learn about too. It seems its an option in the Java library in PaymentIntentCreateParams.setOffSession() and it also works using curl on Postman

We have been told from our contact at Stripe that sending one_off might help with success rates instead of sending "false". But I can't see where this lies in any docs, or why it might be different

sorry to have to redirect you, but i think it may be better for you to continue the conversation with your contact. The one-off input value isn't something that i'm familiar with. They may have had separate conversations with the relevant engineering team to have told you that and they would be able to better advise you.
