And the customer did not have a payment method setup earlier
It will registered as the customer's default payment method, which will be used for future Invoice. It's the same with if you set that payment method to user's invoice_settings.default_payment_method
A Customer can have multiple Payment Method, but he/she only can has 1 default Payment Method

The point I don't understand is this. Let's take a customer who does not have a payment method at all. If that customer tries to add a payment method using this portal but did not click on Use as default payement method check box, what will happen if I try to charge the customer for a subscription?
