First thing:

and registered the domain on one of our standard connected accounts,
did you do that through the dashboard, or did you make the API call at https://stripe.com/docs/stripe-js/elements/payment-request-button?html-or-react=html#html-js-using-with-connect to register?

through the dashboard of the connected account (i.e. logged in as the connected account, not as the platform)
