@still zinc sorry for the new redirect, but you're really asking more about tos/compliance and it's not really something we are familiar with.
I do understand the worry of your client here. It's definitely a problem in general but it's common for things like this to have a disclaimer upfront that you agree to as a customer, like clear terms of services, and then that business can charge you later for damges, late return, etc.
It's possible for customers to dispute those charges, and then as the business you provide the evidence you have like the ToS, the proof the customer saw it, etc.
