No problem,
We are testing out stripe checkout + customer portal to see if we can migrate over to it from our custom integration.
So far this is the only issue we have encountered.

It's a really tricky scenario because you need to know what the user intends to do before creating the portal session.

#

And allowing them to change quantity makes it that much harder.

I can't think of an approach that would accomplish this without providing misleading information to the customer.
