hello, you might have to try this out but I think you can collect EIN up front, then create the Custom account and pass it in the account creation request, I imagine that would "prefill" it on the Connect Onboarding flow
correct, but trying the account_links with an existing ein still allows the user to change it
in which case I'm back to being out of sync if that makes sense
ah gotcha
yeah that would be a limitation then right now of Connect Onboarding, I know certain things are prefilled but others can still be changed during onboarding
I'm also confused as to why we don't have visibility to the EIN since it is a publicly accessible number that one can literally look up on the IRS
right, and as far as you can tell, there's no way to lock the EIN, assuming we send it on the account creation?
I'm not sure on why EIN isn't publicly accessible, not super informed on that topic
there's no way to lock the EIN, assuming we send it on the account creation?
doesn't look like it no
You should write in to Support and let them know that you have feedback you'd like to pass internally to the Connect team, that a) EIN should be exposed publicly in the API
and b) that you want EIN to be prefilled and non-changeable if passed on account creation
and let them know you spoke to Heath in Discord and I routed you that way to get the feedback in to the right team
