@cosmic swan I'd recommend talking to our support team in that case since it's a calculation issue
but do you have an example invoice id (in_123) I can look at? I'd like to flag
I will share in a bit
but I wanted to check if that is something expected or miscalculation?
it seems like mis-calculation to me but maybe the sales tax is not 8.25% after all so looking at an example would help
invoice number: E9DB890B-DRAFT and this is the invoice ID: in_1JiNzhKy6fGyKH5TBO9TY9LL
ok thanks for the response
will it possible to raise support ticket?
You should write in to support directly: https://support.stripe.com/contact
But I'm looking too
Thanks!
(we're looking too in case we can figure out what's causing this)
@cosmic swan what happens if you try to finalize that invoice?
I feel like this happens when you change the customer's address
yeah that's the issue you have
so we did change the address. But when we created the invoice for the first time, it showed the same tax calculation
can you try finalizing first so that we can confirm?
ok I will re-test
@cosmic swan https://help.avalara.com/Frequently_Asked_Questions/Product_and_Service_Taxability_FAQ/Why_is_the_item_only_80_percent_taxable_in_Texas_%3F we think it's related to this 😅
so yeah we've confirmed this so it seems totally normal in principle but nothing in our API says so
so this is expected?
it seems like it is expected yet
I would not have expected this as a developer myself (and I helped design that API shape so I'm surprised). I'm flagging internally as we have to figure out how to provide more information about the math discrepancy I think, but it doesn't look like a bug
just created new one with the same address. in_1JiOjhKy6fGyKH5T3seKQLdP Invoice Number : 7BC48345-0001
with 8.25% Tax amount should be 0.75, but it is showing 0.6
Doesn't this still line up with the item being 80% taxable?
Taxable amount: $9.11 * .8 = $7.28
Tax: $7.28 * .0825 = $0.60
ohhkay I read that wrong. My bad
what other states does it have it like that? any idea?
Unfortunately I myself have not been able to find much about this. I would reach out to support with this question https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true
Of course. Always happy to help!
