we have to do KYC identity verification of the account (https://support.stripe.com/questions/know-your-customer-obligations) and part of that can be needing the user's SSN.

really I don't want to users to enter the ssn number on the website and I am sure they will not enter it

no, this is a core part of how Connect works https://stripe.com/docs/connect/identity-verification-api

it's a legal and regulatory requirement to collect information like this before you can send money to people, due to anti-money-laundering laws etc. If you're using Custom Connect you need to be intensely familiar with this.

I don't believe you can no(generally SSNs are sensitive info so I'd be surprised if Plaid gives you the raw value, but you could check their docs).
