I highly doubt it will support the older SDK though I'm not sure

I don't think there's any actual geo-fencing or analysis that way no. It's more for improved reporting and so that the country the reader will operate in is clear(since different firmware is needed for different countries)

so moving around a bit(just not cross-border) AFAIK is fine
