Hey ๐ thanks!
Thanks for your patience! It does look like new accounts will need to be created for your vendors (I was hoping you'd just be able to update them, but that doesn't work if they've already accepted the terms).
What type of Connect accounts are you using?
Not sure exactly what you mean by that - They're "full" service agreement connected accounts
Should I create new accounts for them through the Accounts API, or should I ask that they create new accounts? I'm just not sure how that works exactly
I was asking because if you are using Express accounts, then you could set the default agreement type for all accounts created moving forward 0, which might make things easier.
A service agreement establishes the relationship between Stripe and the platform's users.
I'm still consulting with my colleagues on this, but as far as I can tell neither approach is easier than the other. The different approaches just kind of shift who does the work.
If you create the accounts, then you have the advantage of being able to query your current accounts to see which ones are on the full agreement and need a new account.
On the other hand it's likely less work for you to have your vendors create new accounts, but it means you're relying on them to take the necessary action.
Okay, I was currently planning on creating the new accounts and did start that process, but I wanted to make sure that was the right route to take.
I'll look into the express accounts. What is the difference between express and normal connect accounts
There are a couple differences between our Standard and Express accounts, there is also a third type of Custom, and this page does a good job helping to articulate the differences:
https://stripe.com/docs/connect/accounts
If you look in your, you'll see the type of each connected account in the Type column:
https://dashboard.stripe.com/test/connect/accounts/overview
Gotcha. Yeah they are standard accounts right now. Thanks! I'll read through that. Would there be any problem with us changing connect account types?
When you say "changing connect account types" do you mean updating an already created account or just creating new accounts with a new type moving forward?
I'm wondering about both. About half of our vendors need new accounts anyways because they are international, so those would be new accounts. But the other half currently would not need new accounts so I would like to update them if we needed to change account types
Well, I asked because you can't actually update an account to change its type
So really your only option is to create a new account
Okay thats good to know. I'm still not sure if we need to change the account types, but if we do I dont want to have to request all our vendors recreate their accounts more than once
I'm going to archive this thread, but if you have further questions feel free to hop in the main channel and one of us can reopen it for you!
