Hello! It's not possible for a connected account to use their Stripe balance to buy anything directly. Typically the Stripe balance would be paid out to a bank account and then used normally from there (i.e. with a debit card, bank transfer, etc.).

I see. So the connected account (ie seller on a marketplace) can accumulate a balance from the marketplace, but the balance is only for payouts? They can't use their balance for anything else?

That's mostly correct, yeah. The balance can be used for things like refunds or disputes, but not for making purchases.
