You can't do it via the API and really it's not supported. Might be worth reaching out to the support team to ask if they can do it manually, but I wouldn't count on that as an option (https://support.stripe.com/contact). If they say they can't, you'd either want to leave it as is and track it on your end, or recreate manually as you mentioned.
