Apologizes, the documentation here isn't very clear, and it's lacking some important details,
By default it will only work for card_present (terminal) transactions, however If you reach out to Stripe support, they should be able to request enabling the capability to use the brand_product on field on e-commerce transactions and the corresponding properties in the API on your account.
I'll see about getting our documentation squared away here, because I would have been just as confused coming into this blind.
