if it helps, invoice.payment_intent on acacia returns the payment intent

Ah, the payments property is marked "Expandable" which means it doesn't show up by default but you can request it by adding expand: ['payments'] to your get request (doc)

the way i understand expandable from previous usage is that it renders the full object. looks like the definition has expanded to include attributes that are absent until they're expanded. might help to include a helpful tip in the docs.

without expand you get a small object, usually just an id. here, i would have expected a list of ids

Yeah very good point. That is what expansion is supposed to be, and we should flag that we have that other different use for it. I'll raise that internally.
