I'm not aware of any such plans, and broadly I would expect the customer portal to expand to support more complex subscription models instead.

It sounds like you have pretty specific requirements that necessitate custom integration for the time being.

You could explore whether using the Hosted Invoice Page and/or pending updates might help you with your integration, but I expect you'll still careful control over the customer experience.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m honestly surprised that Checkout Sessions are designed solely for creation and not for updates of subscriptions.

The main issue with the Customer Portal is that it forces the user out of our application's flow and into a generic environment. Checkout Session feels like the perfect middle ground: it handles the 'payment & security' heavy lifting (SCA, proration display, tax) while letting us keep control over the business logic and the transition between our UI and the payment step.

Using the Hosted Invoice Page or Pending Updates adds significant custom development overhead for things that Checkout already does perfectly for new subscribers. It feels like a missed opportunity for a seamless 'Upgrade/Downgrade' experience.
