This is expected actually. You need to use newer device in order to use the new Stripe SDK
Check the requirements here:

The device must have a security updates at least 1 in the last 12 months

I checked my system update and this is what it is
How can we make sure the the Stripe tap to pay will work on this device

No, you need a newer device in order to meet the security requirements
okay, but unfortunately, we cannot update the device, as we have 100s of them distributed to our customers.
You can keep using the old stripe SDK in this case untill you switch to a newer one, or the device maintainer releases a new security update
with 4.1.0 we had a bug where the Terminal object got flushed during on going transactions and the only options was to update with the latest SDK
Yes I understand that but there isn't much options here sorry. This is a hard security requirements, to protect you and your customers paying you through Tap to Pay.
