hi there, yes it's possible to test a webhook handler locally using the stripe listen CLI command. you can find detailed instructions on how to do this here https://docs.stripe.com/webhooks#test-webhook
How to specify the API version in Stripe Listen?
For example: 2025-11-20
stripe listen --forward-to localhost:8080/api/callback/stripe/webhook --api-key sk_test_51SwGhQ3Z5VZvjjzaBVQzTSjuAJhoIOZIalaBotpwJ5dEKwYnlEfpuEPR8pdlUh7AQahMn730PC1uDz9N2LpIIvQV004Te9MrB2
I need to specify version monitoring. How should I handle it?
by default stripe listen will use your dashboard's default API version. you can also specify that you want to use the latest API version with this flag: https://docs.stripe.com/cli/listen#listen-latest
I don't think there is a workaround that would allow you to specify a specific API version for stripe listen. one possibility you could consider is using a tunneling utility like ngrok to send webhook endpoint traffic to your localhost. you can create webhook endpoints using a specific API version if you create them using the API https://docs.stripe.com/api/webhook_endpoints/create#create_webhook_endpoint-api_version
I attempted to use :https://docs.stripe.com/api/webhook_endpoints/create#create_webhook_endpoint-api_version ;Return :{ "error": { "message": "Invalid URL: URL must be publicly accessible. Consider using a tool like the Stripe CLI to test webhooks locally: https://github.com/stripe/stripe-cli", "param": "url", "request_log_url": "https://dashboard.stripe.com/acct_1SwGhQ3Z5VZvjjza/test/workbench/logs?object=req_QUkDrOIGsX8SoR", "type": "invalid_request_error" } }
Sign in to the Stripe Dashboard to manage business payments and operations in your account. Manage payments and refunds, respond to disputes and more.
