I would like to NOT allow anyone to sign up automatically to my account
Even in our hosted onboarding flows you control when the account is created. How are users signing up automatically without your knowledge?

I don't know that they are, I litterly was foced today to signup, so I'm new and quite ignorant of how it all works at the moment ๐Ÿ™‚

#

I just want to make sure I'm secure now, as I begin to learn how it all works.

#

I've been in std stripe for many years

Why were you forced to sign up to connect. I don't understand

vocal mirage
#

good question... I guess because we work in School Fundraising... very frustrating that we are being forced to change

snow sphinx
#

I still don't understand. But that's because I don't have the context

vocal mirage
#

I just got an email that said I had 2 weeks to sign up or they would shut me off. I've read all of this. I need to control who can signup as a "connected" account very strictly. What is the best method?

#

(and thank you)

snow sphinx
#

In all the onboarding paths your application controls when the connect account is created via the api. So what information you need to verify in your app prior to creating the account is up to you

vocal mirage
#

ok, that's what I needed to "hear". to say it back... until I approve a connected account, it will not exist. I really don't want to implement ANY of this connect stuff... none of the reasons they used apply to our business model other than the name. Will they force me to update old business, or just new business? (we run subscriptions)

snow sphinx
#

I don't understand why you're being forced to use connect and I have 0 context here. Really I recommend talking to support about this

vocal mirage
#

I've tried and tried.... I get no response....

#

who would I call that might have enough understanding of connect to talk me thru it? I just get ppl reading back the docs on their site which is not helpful

#

I've read of ppl not securing their Connect account well enough and it being abused. This is what I'm trying to be sure that I've prevented effectively

#

Context: We done school fundraising thru stripe since 2018. We've had no problems or issues. We are doing the same type of business as we started with. (XX$/month given to a school) Suddenly in 12/25 we got an email threatening to turn us off if we didn't implment connect. We asked many questions, but got no response other than restating the deadline.

snow sphinx
#

Yeah I've never heard of this kind of thing so I can't really advise unfortunately. We just help with dev questions mostly. This sort of account/compliance thing is best handled through support. All I can recommend is keep reaching out at https://support.stripe.com/contact unfortunately

vocal mirage
#

ok. from a dev perspective... I think you may have answered my question... People CAN NOT signup as a connected account to my primary account without my APPROVAL. True?

snow sphinx
#

Your integration controls how/when the connect account is created via the api. It's up to you to implement checks

#

ie who gets to do that

vocal mirage
#

gotcha. Thank you, that calms my nerves.... I haven't implemented any of it yet! have a great day

snow sphinx
#

Same to you
