Hi there - we have a guide on the topic here: https://docs.stripe.com/connect/standard-accounts
Is it as simple as that? We’re trying to troubleshoot this clients account so want to be sure we have what we need from his account too and that it’s eligible to be connected.
Yes, that is the process for onboarding standard accounts. It seems like you have some concerns but what they are is unclear to me. Perhaps you could be more specific?
We’re trying to connect an existing standard account
Sorry let me rephrase
We’re trying to connect an existing stripe account as a standard connected account.
Normally we create a new account on our end as the platform and then send the link to the client where they open it, log in, and select their existing account
When we do that now the existing account doesn’t appear for the client for some reason we are trying to debug in parallel
So now we’re trying to create the account for them manually in the event the parallel work hits a dead end
okay, gotcha, that is helpful
What's the existing account?
That is - if you want to create a fresh account for them, the doc I gave you at the top is the way to do that
Account ID for Comedy Connection = acct_1R6fbBDkAVO9ppuR
Ah ok, would they still have to go through all the business verification steps for this new account and/or would any historical data be able to be merged to an account that we create for them?
Yes, they would be subject to verification if you create a new account
Any chance you’d be able to tell me if there’s something fundamentally weird with the account we’re trying to connect?
Not really. It would be worth knowing what email address they are using because I think it would need to be the same one that they are using for the existing account
Yea he’s using cory@nulevelentertainment.com
Which pulls up two other accounts he’s connected to, but just not this one for some reason
Okay, that's correct. Do you have a screenshot of the onboarding UI after pasting in the email into the input?
the second option - NuLevel Entertainment, seems to match acct_1R6fbBDkAVO9ppuR
Oh what the
Interesting. Why would it show that instead of the Comedy Connection label it normally has
It's hard to say
He’s got this listed out
Sorry not trying to backdoor account support
Haha
Are we conflating the concept of a business and an account or something
acct_1MXAv8B5sNQzBBIB has a address than what is in the screenshot and a statement descriptor of "Loft Comedy Club"
acct_1R6fbBDkAVO9ppuR has the address you see in the screenshot and a statement descriptor of "Comedy Connection"
but to be clear you're still creating a new account here. If you read the text closely it says "this will link an existing account's business characteristics".
You had to create an account to create/send them the onboarding link, right?
Yes i think we tried a few
So I think this step is just helping prefill information on a new account
I assume the "new business" accounts in the most recent screenshot are the results of what you've already done
Yes
But prefill it with information that has already been vetted and whatnot so he doesn’t have to go through all that verification again
We aren't experts on verification here in this channel; I'm not sure if that is the case or not.
Got it ok
Ok so still unclear why the comedy connection label isn’t on his stripe account
But in theory that could just be a label thing
We're displaying the legal entity name. Comparing these again, I do think the second account is acct_1MXAv8B5sNQzBBIB
Which has the same business name as legal entity name, and is not acct_1R6fbBDkAVO9ppuR
The two accounts have very similar information
Should we just try to attach that NuLevel Entertainment
I'm not sure why acct_1R6fbBDkAVO9ppuR isn't being displayed as an option. I think at this point I'd need to send you to support and have them talk to the product team to find out more.
Okie doke
As far as I can tell, this prefills information from the existing account. As I mentioned the two aforementioned accounts are quite similar so just chosing the second option might work for you, but my ability to debug what a given account sees in hosted onboarding is limited
And if we need to connect it manually we can use the e documentation you laid out earlier
That's the point that I'm afraid is not quite getting across. You're creating a new account in all cases, not connecting an existing account.
but yes you can create a new account and prefill the information you have
Got it
Ok thanks for the help we’re going to try a few things but if there’s a support queue you can kick me to in order to verify a few things that’d be helpful
