Hi there. Link can operate in two ways: as a distinct payment method type (type: "link" on the PM) and as a wallet similar to Google Pay or Apple Pay (type: "card" on the Payment Method and card.wallet.type: "link" ) https://docs.stripe.com/api/payment_methods/object?lang=curl#payment_method_object-card-wallet-type
So my guess is that you're seeing the second scenario but there are frankly many factors that decide which of these is used
what is your account id?
He palamedes, I understand it can be used two different ways
Do you know where I can find my account id?
Yep, its in your dashboard on the settings page here: https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/account
I'm currently working in the sandbox environment....

We have automatic payment methods enabled currently in the payment intent settings. I did turn that off and tried passing 'link' into the Payment Method Types field but that didn't seem to fix the issue
Gotcha - do you happen to have a staging site where I could inspect the page where you render the Payment Element?
Yes but I'm not entirely comfortable sharing that over a public chat
You can DM the link to me if you are more comfortable with that
Just set it over in a dm
lmk if you need help getting to the checkout page, let me know
Thank you, looking now
I'm getting an error "Unable to create the profile at this time." when trying to create an account
When I click "Create" on the "User Details" page
Try going through the Log In link at the top right in the header. There should be an option to create on from that page
Still not working for me unfortunately
Interesting, I just created one, I'll dm you the username / password
Thank you!
Sorry one moment, the site is deploying
K just sent it over
So if you have a link account and are logged into it, you'll see that the Save card for future payments checkbox is enabled when it shouldn't be. We have js logic that only enables it when the event.value.type is set to 'card'
Yep able to reproduce that now. Looking in to how to do this. I remembered running in to this yesterday but now I see that was also you
So I think the difference is that if a specific card pm is saved, the change event will have a value.payment_method.id field whereas Link card won't. I don't like that because I have a feeling that could change in future but that could be a temporary workaround
Do you mean specifially for Saved cards or Saved cards through Link?
Sorry yes I did bring this up yesterday but I was unable to comment again in my previous request
Hi there π I'm jumping in as my teammate needs to step away soon. I'm catching up real quick.
alright
To Pompey's last comment, that scenario doesn't provide me a solution to tell if Link is selected as the initial payment method on load of payment element
Based on what I'm seeing so far, I think this is something that our teams are going to have to dig into further.
Okay, what does the process for that look like exactly?
We're working on collecting and packaging all the relevant information for the team that owns this feature, and we'll then get them to take a look. I don't think we'll need any additional details from you at this point, but we should know pretty soon if that isn't the case.
Okay great thanks! Is there any way I can keep track of the issue? I guess I'm thinking of disabling the checkbox until it is resolved
Gotcha, we'll have to get this thread converted into a support case for more ongoing updates. I'll have our bot send you a DM to do that in just a second.
Hello @hushed plover, we have sent you a direct message, please check it at https://discord.com/channels/@me/1461107708265631929
- πThe message has instructions on how to open a direct support case with our Developer Support team, in order to help you more effectively.
@gleaming folio is it crittical that I open a support case via StripeBot or are you doing that on your end?
The bot is the flow for opening the case from this thread. You could file a support ticket yourself via our Support site, but our bot flow makes sure the cases come right to our team.
I think the link might be broken. When I click it I'm taken to a Help & Support page but no where on the page am i prompted to open a support ticket.

Hm, that doesn't open the chat modal on right/bottom-right side? There's typically a submission box for any additional relevent details that aren't already in the thread. But it might not work if you aren't logged into your Stripe account on the support site first.
Oh I'm sorry, I didin't notice the ai assistant
