Hey there this is because the coupon duration limits only the time when it can be applied to invoices, not the period of billing it applies to within an invoice.

#

ie, if the coupon is still active it will apply to the entire amount/period for all applicable items

#

If you're doing a "one month free" 100% coupon, this would need to be on a monthly price, not an annual price

#

then on the second month renewal the coupon would be disable and the invoice for the full amount would be generated

#

If you want to offer a "free month" within an annual price, you'd need to use different logic like 12.5% off or a fixed $ amount for the value of one month

@woven wigeon thank you for the clarification, makes sense.
One question: you suggest to set 12.5% off for 1 month free. Why not 100 / 12 = 8.33 % ?

hi there, taking over this thread as synthrider had to step away, give me a few moments to catch up

#

yes, 8.33% would be the amount for a month off free
