๐Ÿ‘‹ Hi there! Let me take a look

#

How did you connect your sandbox to the platform?

timber crane
#

I created an oauth link from my platform test mode. I then opened it in an incognito window, logged into the sandbox account, with username, password and 2fa. Then accepted it and filled in what it needed.

#

Interestingly, even though my sandbox says its underneath my platform, i don't see the account listed in connected accounts in the platform. What I really need to test is revoking the permission as we have a customer looking to leave their current platform and move to us. They assure me they are a direct account (which i will be confirming), but for now i just wanted to test the scenario of moving a direct account from one platform to another.

#

Yeah, I can see the sandbox is connected to your platform in test mode

#

Could I ask you to give me access to your sandbox, so I can take a look at what you're seeing?

timber crane
#

Sure, that's not a problem as its just a test account

Hello @timber crane, we have sent you a direct message, please check it at https://discord.com/channels/@me/1394968364614422540

  • ๐Ÿ”— The message has instructions on how to grant read and write access to your Stripe Dashboard for our Developer Support team, in order to help you more effectively.

Thanks!

timber crane
#

That should be approved. Under apps, I can't click revoke

#

Thanks. Having looked into this some more, I think we'll need to investigate a bit further offline

As a company we do a lot of sports related activities.. so things like sports memberships, court bookings, coaching/training that sort of thing. Our customers use our tools to manage all of the above, any payments go through stripe and we take an application fee.

In this instance, we have a prospective customer who are with another company. They would like to move to our software, and have said they have a direct stripe account. They want to ensure that they keep transaction history and that subscriptions remain running for all of their members.

So I am trying to investigate having them leave their current platform, to join ours, and then we can setup everything else needed via the API.

#

We already have a reasonable sized platform account, so we are wanting them to join that.

#

Im happy for this to be investigated offline, is there a way it can be done as a support ticket so I can put my email address against it and be updated? Its a large opportunity for us so, we're putting a lot of effort into working out what can be done.

๐Ÿ‘‹ taking over for my colleague. Let me catch up.

timber crane
#

Thanks, no worries.

#

I should add, I did reach out to the data migrations team for this, but they were providing instructions on copying over PAN data rather than moving the account from one platform to another. After more research I found the documentation about direct accounts being able to revoke the permissions, so thats what I started trying to test.

kind falcon
#

@timber crane I remember discussing this with you last week

timber crane
#

Yeah, we did chat about it, I went away, spoke to the data migrations team, and after a short discussion with them, I found the docs about the revoke option. The docs seem pretty clear that revoking should be possible for direct accounts, but I cant seem to test it.

kind falcon
#

did you try the OAuth approach?

timber crane
#

Yeah, on the account selection i can't select the account untill they revoke their current platform

kind falcon
#

Oh ok, I see what you mean

#

do you have the account ID of the connected account?

timber crane
#

acct_1SeZcdHL6mpoCXiP

#

that's the account, its connected in sandbox mode, to platform: acct_1O9QQ1IXEImL88y1

#

oops

#

platform: acct_1O9QQ1IXEImL88y1
connected account: acct_1SeZcdHL6mpoCXiP

kind falcon
#

ok, so now you're not able to unauthorize?

timber crane
#

If you see the screenshot above, I can't click the revoke access button

kind falcon
#

ok

timber crane
#

I should add, this was a direct account. I created it on stripe first, then connected it to the platform. With the hope to revoke access and move it to another platform

kind falcon
#

but what is the actual Standard account that you're trying to revoke its platform access

#

I mean the client you're trying to acquire

#

what is their account ID?

timber crane
#

erm, let me see if I have it

#

I haven't been given the account id yet, but I do have a customer id from the account: cus_QkwiMi6LRCwPRZ

#

They gave us an export from their current systems so we could try work out a plan. So while it didn't contain account id, it did have customer id's which I think are unique so you can probably find it that way.

kind falcon
#

ok perfect, that gives me enough to see what I need to see

#

give me a few minutes while I investigate this

timber crane
#

thanks

kind falcon
#

the account you shared is not owned by any platform, so you won't have to deal with this problem

timber crane
#

Awesome, they must just be connected via keys then. Thats great to know.

#

Ok, cool, thanks for this, that makes everything much easier i think

timber crane
#

Well, yeah, either way I guess it doesn't matter. As long as they're free to join our platform then everything else is just API work on ourside.

#

Thank you for your help on this, I really appreciate it. I feel like we are in the deep dark depths of the stripe platform.. way out of the normal day to day.. so very much appreciate the help and guidance.. there so much to understand and having this team share their knowledge is super helpful.

Thank you.
