๐Ÿ‘‹ Can I ask you to summarize your integration? That doc links doesn't really make it clear to me what you are doing without trying to read the whole doc and see what your changed

Yeah, we're a payment portal for utility companies. The utility companies will be creating a connected account and we are trying to figure out what the account type per se is with the link above

#

We've read the documentation and its a bit confusing around this. If we use the properties outlined in the link, does that make the connected accounts custom? Or is that just something completely different?

Gotcha, so let me clarify one small thing first

Connect used to have explicit account types that came with really strict behaviour/expectation: Standard, Custom and Express.

Many Connect platforms wanted further flexibility though and we kept having to either make exceptions or saying no. So last year we revamped Connect overall and removed account types (well not really they still work fine but it's considered deprecated) and replaced them with the controller information on Account that lets you configure more granularly what you want: exact Dashboard type, who owns onboarding, who owns risk, etc.

So nowadays you pick exactly what you want. Conceptually it means you can pick a setup that mirrors what was a Standard or Custom account.

Does that make sense?

Yes, thank you!!! I have bee going in circles with this because I know stripe charges different for custom accounts vs standard accounts (payout fee + $2/connected account for custom). Do those fees apply here at all?

To be clear: Stripe charges differently for Custom and Express accounts. Not just Custom

Ok, so still a little confused on the wording here so I'm not sure which category these connected accounts fall into on that page

#

the ones where you control pricing but yes it's a lot more subtle

Dang, I have already talked to them a couple times and keep getting thrown in a loop. When you say we control pricing, what does that mean? Like we set the price on the line items/invoice?

Hi ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm stepping in as my colleague needs to go. Unfortuantely, I need to reiterate what my colleague said in that we don't know much about pricing and fees here. I recommend talking to support and providing the exact configuration you are considering.

restive tendon
#

Support actually directed me to this discord channel

inner widget
#

yeah they do that sometimes no matter how many times we say no to
I'm sorry but we can't answer your question. We can guess, but that won't really help you if we're wrong ๐Ÿ™

#

We can answer code questions, talk about our APIs but not pricing

restive tendon
#

Yeah i get it. Maybe we can brainstorm on a test we can write to see which category we fall into?

inner widget
#

๐Ÿ˜“

#

We can not talk to you about pricing in any way. So whatever you write or test, this won't really help unfortunately.

restive tendon
#

well i was more or less thinking about coding up a test

inner widget
#

We can talk to you about what you want. And if you want no fee at all then go with Standard + Direct Charges

restive tendon
#

ok, ty

#

handles the pricing - that is referring to the processing fee?

#

We strongly recommend you discuss pricing and fees with Support.
