I see no mention to Windows PC on that article you've shared, but that's not supported by Stripe yet AFAIK
Here are the supported browsers for Apple Pay:
https://docs.stripe.com/elements/express-checkout-element#supported-browsers
Wait do you have a Chrome running on Windows ?
It says so.
Yes, I have a chrome running on windows
When you open this what do you see?
https://docs.stripe.com/elements/express-checkout-element#try-demo
I see link, amazon pay and klarna
Yes as I expected this is supported only in MacOs
https://docs.stripe.com/elements/express-checkout-element#supported-browsers:~:text=3Apple Pay,to always.
And not in Windows
is there any plan to implement this in future so that people on iOS 18 can scan & pay?
It's implemented already but for MacOs users
For example, if you open the demo I shared with you with Chrome on MacOs you'll get the scan&pay
yes
https://www.tapstitch.com/
this website shows up apple pay on windows and linux. What's the restriction on stripe?
Simply not yet Supported by Stripe product
okay, and on macOS, it opens up on a new page for scan & pay instead of a modal on merchant website. Is that also not supported by stripe?
hmm, this should work I think: https://docs.stripe.com/elements/express-checkout-element#payment-methods
you need to force Apple Pay to display via paymentMethods[applePay]: 'always'
did you try that?
yes, I tried that and after clicking on apple pay button, I was redirected. I was rather expecting a modal to open up
ohh, that's also a new window, you see the url
yes, that's how it works. it is in effect a redirect
okay, got it
you won't see the native Safari Apple Pay dialog in Chrome, instead that is 'pushed' to the phone once you scan
