You're welcome in advance ๐Ÿ˜„

#

So mostly you want to talk about the concept of manual capture, I think.

#

Do you need to sometimes capture less than the full amount you authorize for the in-person payments integration you're building?

tulip vessel
#

Hmmmm what does manual capture means?

lunar pagoda
#

And "capture" means the amount of funds that Stripe is actually going to request from the issuer, as distinct from the amount that is "authorized".

To put this in broad e-commerce terms, if you have a household and two parents working all the time and you order a bunch of stuff from Amazon or Target or what-have-you, and you submit your card details, they'll authorize, say $300 on your card for the maximum total of the order, and then they'll figure out what they actually have available to ship to you and they'll capture that amount

Ohhhh

#

I see!

#

In this case I don't need manual capture.

lunar pagoda
#

It is common in a variety of industries for various reasons

#

Yeah so if you just don't define capture method on the PaymentIntent, we default to automatic capture

tulip vessel
#

I'll always capture the full amount requested from customer.

#

I see!

#
