You don't haev to provide anything to test Connect in a Sandbox or test mode.
Where are you seeing these requirements exactly?

Hi. Iām in sandbox mode (confirmed by the banner at the top of the screen) and going through setup for v2 accounts. Within the ātest connectā section it seems to be requesting live data (provide a representative with email and phone number etc) and within the āverify you businessā section it seems to want a real bank account.

That isn't required to just create a test Connected Account
That would only be required to actually enable your account

When going through the onboarding flow for your Connected Account you should be using the Connect Verification test data: https://docs.stripe.com/connect/testing

But it generated the test data earlier in the process, ie a test bank account was created during the ācreate a test paymentā section in the workflow. Two steps later it surely isnāt asking for the test account it just created? This seems instead to be requesting a real bank account, no? It is validating the sort code

How did you trigger the UI that is asking for that data? What did you click on exactly?

I canāt recall what I clicked next, but I think get started or setup.
It asked whether sandbox or live and I confirmed sandbox

https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/connect is just a setting page. Could you share what you're trying to do here? If you're going to integrate with Connect, you will create the connected account and complete the onboarding using API integration. There shouldn't be a need for you to go to this specific page.

I see. So does creating a connected account require the input of a real, live bank account? If so, I find it confusing that this process both generates dummy data, and also requests real data. Is the representative supposed to be real or dummy?

No, you shouldn't need to put real data in the Sandbox mode. You can use the test data here to fill up the onboarding information: https://docs.stripe.com/connect/testing
